Jonathan H. Spergel – LEGACY Chairman of the Board

Jonathan H. Spergel, Esq. is a partner of Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox LLP in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, the environmental and energy law firm with which he started his legal career in 1993. He served as the Managing Partner of the firm from 2014 to 2019. Mr. Spergel handles a wide variety of environmental legal issues, including the environmental aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, brownfield redevelopments, environmental insurance procurement and coverage issues, public funding opportunities, and regulatory compliance counselling. From 2001 to 2003, he served as general counsel of O’Neill Properties (now MLP Ventures), a regional real estate development company. He has authored numerous articles on environmental legal issues, and he frequently lectures for various groups and organizations. He graduated with distinction from Stanford University and received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, cum laude. Mr. Spergel has also been an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law. In addition to being the Chair of the Board of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, Mr. Spergel is the Chairman of the Board of the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority. He also serves on the Board of the City Avenue Special Services District.
Terry Booker – LEGACY Vice Chairman

Terry Booker is Vice President of Corporate Development and Innovation at Independence Blue Cross (Independence). In this position, he oversees Independence’s corporate growth through diversification efforts that include acquisitions, partnerships, affiliations, and development of new companies. He also leads innovation efforts to find new ways of transforming health care by creating dynamic new models of care, investing in powerful partnerships and nurturing health-related startups.
Since joining Independence, Mr. Booker has led recapitalization projects, including Independence’s partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to purchase AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, one of the nation’s leading Medicaid managed care organizations. In addition, he structured the investment and accountable-care delivery system in the venture between Cooper University Health Care and AmeriHealth New Jersey, a subsidiary of Independence’s parent company, Independence Health Group. Mr. Booker also helped create the Independence Blue Cross Center for Health Care encouraging a customer-first, people-centered approach to innovations. Additionally, Mr. Booker led the team to initiate the company’s Strategic Innovation Portfolio, a $50 million investment fund that invests directly and indirectly in companies strategic to Independence and in health care-related companies.
Mr. Booker has extensive experience with business development for large private sector companies and government entities from leadership positions with Fortune 500 companies and small businesses. He provided business valuation and other services in connection to mergers, acquisition, investments, and licensing for public and private companies. Before joining Independence, he served as vice president and head of Business Development of Grain Communications Group, Inc., a private equity firm specializing in telecommunications investments for government agencies. He was also the founder and managing partner of Axis Partners LLC, a business development advisory practice.
In addition to being LEGACY’s Vice Chair, he serves on the board of trustees for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey.
Mr. Booker graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics with a dual concentration in entrepreneurial management and marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Jelena Batula – LEGACY Board Member

Jelana Batula, is Vice President at Firstrust Bank and a commercial construction real estate lender. Born and raised in Serbia (former Yugoslavia), she came to the United States as an exchange student in 2003. (English is her second language) Jelena holds a BA and MBA from Wesley College. She is the mother of Viktor, 12, and Tara, 11, and has been happily married to Boris for 15 years.

Ivan Sun – LEGACY Accounting Manager

Ivan As Accounting Manager, Ivan oversees all areas of financial administration including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, general ledger, banking and reconciliations. With over 20 years of both public and non-profit corporations, Ivan has experience in coordination of budget management functions, team building and company collaboration. Ivan comes to LEGACY from Alternatives Inc. New Jersey, where he was the Accounting Manager. Prior to that, he was with Northeast Community Center Philadelphia and Verizon. Ivan earned a BBA degree in Accounting from Baruch College – The City University of New York.”
We also welcome Simone Knight, Bookkeeper, along with returning staff member, Brian McGhee, Sr. Lead Tennis Pro. Most recently Brian was the Director of Tennis at Greater Pottstown Tennis and Learning. He oversaw all aspects of our Junior and Adult programs; including scheduling, hiring, staffing, programs, tournaments and all player development. Previously, Brian served as the Director of Player Development at LEGACY.
Our Out of School Time “OST” program is growing as well! We now have Access Center sites at Jardel, Boyle, Simons and Hunting Park and have added 15 full-time employees including: Keith Bunn, Sr., Christine Campbell, Kiana Drummond, DreShaun Jarmon, Tanayea Johnson, Chirstine Joyce, Gerald Mars, Joseph Reynolds, Monique Robinson, Brian Rose, Bridget Russell, Monae Small, Jay Thatchet, Angelique Lewis-Wimberly and Leroy Waller.
We are pleased to announce key promotions within our organization. Derrick Billups, is now LEGACY’s Sr. Director of Community Development and Programs. Derrick will continue to oversee community Programs which includes, Community Tennis, Education, OST and Changing the Game after-school programming. He will also help our President and CEO, Ron Nano, oversee a potential seasonal Lobbyist and Community Outreach Outside Consultant to help gain more funding and an expanded presence in the community.
Kat Sorokko, has been elevated to Sr. Director of Operations. Kat will continue to oversee the facility and Center based Program administration, but she has taken on agency operation, including budgeting, systems, contract management, sales and program P and L responsibilities in conjunction with Ron.
Sanjin Kunovac, now our Sr. Director of Tennis and Business Development, will continue to oversee all of Tennis, but has begun to formall oversee our Marketing and Communications strategies.
We also want to congratulate Josh Irving, Director of Community Services, Frank Green, Director of Jr. Tennis and Joni Helton, Manager of Community Programs on their promotions.
