Neighborhood-Based Programs

aIMG_3136

For children of all ages, their families and education providers in search of after-school and summer activities that deliver fun, leadership, education and the benefits of sport, Legacy Youth Tennis and Education provides the highest quality sports-based youth development in the Philadelphia region. Legacy’s neighborhood based programs such as Changing the Game and NJTL summer camps use tennis as the “hook” to engage young people, particularly from under-resourced communities, in programming that enhances performance character skills such as grit, self-control, conscientiousness, self-esteem, and self-awareness as well as leadership skills, fitness levels and academic engagement. Young people engaged in Legacy’s neighborhood programming consistently report a love for the game, re-enroll in our free and/or low-cost programming, and demonstrate improvement on scales measuring fitness and nutrition awareness.
